Nicole Kidman on parenting teenage daughters Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban
Nicole Kidman has opened up about parenting her teenage daughters, and the one daily habit she forces them to do.
In conversation with Hoda Kotb at the live speaker series HISTORYTalks in Philadelphia on April 18, the Aussie actress, 58, laughed as she admitted, “Both my daughters will kill me for saying this.”
The Big Little Lies actress then went into the act her daughters – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15 – must do for her every single day: give her a hug.

I’m like, ‘You need to hug [me] for two minutes a day’, ” Kidman laughed as she explained.
“It releases certain chemicals in the body, and everyone needs to be hugged for about two minutes a day. Did you know that?” she asked the audience.
Clearly, it works, as the star added of her relationship with the daughters she shares with ex-husband Keith Urban, “We’re so close, the three of us, we talk about everything.”

The actress said she considers parenting teenagers to be “extraordinary” and relishes in the little moments of their day.
“It means sitting on the end of their bed, when they say, ‘Come in here, sit down’. And you go in, and you’re exhausted, and you sit down and you listen,” she shared.
“And I always say, ‘Do you want me to give you advice now, or are you just sort of venting?’
“Primarily I get told no advice,” the Oscar-award-winning actress said with a laugh, “90 percent of the time.”
In addition to Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, Kidman also shares adult children Bella, 33, and son Connor, 31 with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
Sunday Rose recently celebrated her high school formal, but she didn’t wear any old dress for the occasion.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s love story in pictures
The teen model donned an archival number by designer Oscar de la Renta for the milestone.
The model shared a photo of her prom ensemble to Instagram, posing seated on a staircase in the strapless dress which featured silver sequinned strawberry vines, and a full-length white tulle skirt.
The look is from the designer’s spring 2022 collection, with it originally being sold for $US12,900 ($17,900).
Along with the photo, she shared a simple caption, “prom <3”.
The teen is no stranger to designer brands, having previously walked the runway for brands like Dior and Calvin Klein, having made her modelling debut in the Miu Miu spring/summer 2025 fashion show in October 2024.
