Cyberabad Cops Nab One In Digital Arrest Scam
district, in connection with a digital arrest scam. Officials said victims
in Cyberabad alone lost a staggering ₹103 crore in just three months. DCP
Cyber Crime T. Sai Manohar said Avinash is suspected in multiple offences. A
January case involved a 60‑year‑old victim who was “digitally arrested”
through fraudulent calls and coerced into transferring large sums.
Investigators found Avinash impersonated law enforcement officials,
threatened victims with fabricated charges, and extorted money through mule
accounts. He had travelled to Cambodia seeking a data entry job but ended up
in organised cybercrime networks. Despite realising the illegal nature, he
continued voluntarily, facilitating ₹24 lakh in fraudulent transactions
during January–February 2026.
Police seized a mobile phone, passport and ₹12 lakh cash. Officials said
Avinash played a key role in psychologically manipulating victims into
believing they were under investigation. Between January and March alone,
cyber fraud cases caused ₹102 crore losses, of which ₹16 crore was frozen
and ₹12 crore refunded.
The DCP urged citizens to remain vigilant against evolving online frauds,
warning against installing unknown apps, sharing banking credentials, or
responding to fake KYC and job offers.
Two arrested for ATM fraud
Narayanguda police arrested Mohammed Salman, 26, and Azaan Tauqeel Khan, 19,
for allegedly cheating people at ATM kiosks using fake online payment
tricks.
Police said the duo targeted those depositing cash at ATMs. They approached
victims, offered to transfer the amount via apps, and then displayed a fake
“payment successful” screen without actually sending money. In one case,
complainant Aditya Agarwal lost ₹20,000 at an ATM in Narayanguda.
During the investigation, CCTV footage and technical evidence helped track
the suspects. On questioning, they confessed to involvement in five similar
cases registered at Narayanguda, Masab Tank, Sultan Bazaar, IS Sadan and
Domalguda. Police registered cases and produced the accused before court.
Officials cautioned the public against handing cash to strangers at ATM
centres and advised verifying transactions carefully before leaving.

Decomposed Body Found Under Kitchen Platform in Neredmet; Tenant Missing
A decomposed body was found inside a locked house in Neredmet on Friday.
Police suspected that the body belonged to the tenant. Police said the house
had remained locked for nearly three months and the landowner has been
trying to contact the tenant for rent payment.
When he received no response, he broke open the door only to find the body
under the kitchen platform. The body was in an advanced stage of
decomposition, making it difficult to identify the deceased woman. Police
shifted the body for post-mortem examination to establish identity and cause
of death.
Officials said the house was occupied by G. Mallesh, 42, a native of
Siddipet, who worked as a tile worker and occasionally took up construction
work. He was living alone after separating from his wife about eight years
ago.
Investigators are probing multiple angles. It is unclear whether Mallesh was
the deceased or if he was missing. Police were also examining whether the
body belonged to the victim of a murder.
Mallesh’s mobile phone was found switched off. Forensic teams collected
evidence from the scene and officials said call data records and forensic
analysis will be crucial in identifying the deceased and solving the case.
