PART ONE — A Note on Style
I’m taking a different approach to gift guides this year. Instead of the usual suspects you’re seeing everywhere, I wanted to dig deep and source things I think are unique, exceptional or simply special. In the process, I found so many beautiful pieces I wanted to keep for myself, so there’s a little bit of “one for you, one for me” sprinkled throughout. This always seems to be the case with holiday shopping.
1 Voyage Journal Notebooks; 2 Gold & Diamond 12mm Cocktail Spacer on Black Onyx Rectangle Bead; 3 Natural Stone Lighter; 4 Agate Stone Catchall; 5 Leather Wrapped Box; 6 Maison du Roc Perfume; 7 Tekla Towels; 8 Marbleized Paper Set of Two Trays; 9 Victoria Beckham Makeup Brushes; 10 Diamond & Gold Fluted Princess Signet Ring

I’ve listed the full Gift Guide (there’s more to come) on my ShopMy page for easy reference. If you create an account on ShopMy (it’s free), you can save your favorites from A NOTE ON STYLE or any other accounts you follow, making it easy to return to at any time. You’ll have a ready list when someone inevitably asks, “What are you getting for your husband, kids, grandparents, friends, the host…”.
Consider curating your own personal wish list too and save it for reference beyond the holidays.
1: For the traveler, a cloth bound Voyage journal with blank lined pages for note taking, doodles, collecting names and numbers, etc. Made in Italy, available in other sizes and titles: small A6 ($17), medium A5 ($23), large A4 ($40). Or for someone who takes journaling seriously, a racing green pebbled leather sleeve lined in suede and refillable notebook is unbeatable. (Many other colors available)
2 and 10: For the jewelry collector with an eye for something different consider the onyx rectangle beaded bracelet with diamond spacer or (10) fluted gold signet ring. So many more options include pendants from Jennifer Alfano, a striking combination of Heaven Mayhem’s choker set and beaded resin necklace, or a Baroque pearl pendant encristed with multi-color stones.
3: For the design obsessed with a discerning eye, a chic lighter ($79) in a variety of stone options – marble, jade, onyx and more – accented with solid brass. So pretty, you’ll want to leave it out on display.
4: Another for design lovers, the first of several catchalls in the gift guides. I love having a place for things that otherwise clutter on tables. The beautiful agate stone catchall is substantial in size for all those loose ends – eye glasses, keys, jewelry, the tv remote, etc. ($99). Smaller stone bowls ($24) or the donut shaped catchall ($59) are impressive little finds too.
5: Timeless accent pieces in rich leather perfect for those who appreciate old-world appeal. Hand stitched leather lidded box (on sale at Amber Interiors), catchall ($100) or, a handsome set of three leather nesting trays (not shown).
6: For the person who craves an air of mystique, gift a perfume exclusive to a handful of shops. Maison Du Roc introduced me to their range with a gifted Discovery Set ($65) of four fragrances and I’m obsessed with them all. Mousse de Cuir has leather, moss and vetiver notes perfect for this time of year and Crepusculeis is a peppery rose with a hint of patchouli. I’ve been alternating between those two and love them both. Little Flower from Regime des Fleurs, is another favorite not oversaturated in the market. Even though 21:50 Reverie from Victoria Beckham is more widely avaiable, the incredible, sophisticated earthy fragrance deserves a mention. It’s lovely!
7: For an adult son or daughter setting up their home/apartment (or in need of a towel upgrade), forgo the predictable and surprise them with a striped towel set from Tekla. They’re stylish, cool, and elevated, the kind of thing they’d admire but wouldn’t necessarily splurge on for themselves.
8: For someone who appreciates the beauty of handmade goods, these well priced trays are winners. Crafted of marbelized paper, they’re sold as a set of two for $72 with either a scalloped edge or a hexagon shape in mocha, red or blue. Useful in the office, entry, bedside, coffee table, etc.
9: From the onset of the Victoria Beckham Beauty product launch a few years ago, I’ve been a fan. The quality is fabulous, the color range exceptional, and the packaging stunning. The brush collection appears to equally match that aesthetic – the wood handles alone are gorgeous. For the beauty connoisseur who appreciates luxury, gift the Signature Brush Suite of five brushes, or create a set on your own with what’s needed most. (Currently on sale on Victoria Beckham Beauty).
