Celebrity weddings with dogs: Celebrity dogs who have been front and centre for their owners’ big days, including famous pet owners such as Anthony Albanese, Kayley Cuoco, and Ellen DeGeneres | ‘Here comes the pooch’

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his partner of six years Jodie Haydon in a private Canberra ceremony last weekend.

The couple looked the picture of happiness during the event, but one guest in particular stole the show.

Toto Albanese, Australia’s first dog, played a prominent role in her human parents’ big day, wearing a white dress and capturing the hearts of guests and onlookers.

It made us think of all the other times a furry friend made an appearance at a prominent figure’s wedding.

Read on to take a look at some of the famous dog owners who couldn’t bear to leave their pups at home for their big day.

Toto Albanese was not just a guest at the wedding – she played a key role in the ceremony.

The cavoodle, dressed to the nines, was the designated ring bearer for the prime minister’s big day.

She walked down the aisle with their human flower girl, Haydon’s five-year-old niece Ella.

When Albanese shared photos from the big day to his official Instagram account, captioning the post, “I love you, Jodie”, Toto featured front and centre.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher

When Grammy winner Carrie Underwood married Mike Fisher in 2010, she couldn’t help but bring her beloved pup Ace along for the big day.

The dog, who died in 2022, wore a Swarovski crystal-encrusted pink tuxedo to walk down the aisle – a fashion choice Fisher wasn’t stoked about.

“Mike was like, ‘He’s in pink! What are you doing?'” she told People of the dog’s tuxedo.

“But he looked so handsome.”

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich

Dancing With The Stars alum Julianne Hough and NHL star Brooks Laich married in an intimate outdoor wedding in 2017.

The couple’s guest list was more than 200-strong, according to People, and included their two dogs Lexi and Harley.

Hough and Laich separated in 2020 before their divorce was finalised in 2022.

But just days after their split, the unimaginable happened.

“Asked for a separation and then 10 days later my dogs were killed by coyotes,” Hough said in an episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show in August 2024.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

They’re divorced now, but when Joe Jonas married Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner, the couple had a special pal by their side.

Their beloved pet husky, Porky Basquit, was flown from the US to France for their second wedding ceremony.

The adorable pup even wore a suit for the occasion. Paparazzi pictures from the big day show Porky walking on a lead by Joe’s side.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s rescue dogs Mabel and Wolf were front and centre at their backyard wedding ceremony in 2008.

DeGeneres shared a throwback photo of the big day to Instagram in 2020 to pay tribute to Wold after he died.

“He brought us so much love and joy. I hope we did the same for him,” she wrote.

Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook

When Kaley Cuoco married her now ex-husband Karl Cook in 2018, she made a point to keep her furry friends by her side.

Cuoco’s dogs were front and centre during the country-themed ceremony.

“All I wanted was to be surrounded by our animals,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time.

“Nothing made me happier.”

Taking her love for animals a step further, Cuoco asked guests to make donations to a pets charity in lieu of traditional wedding presents for the bride and groom.
