The Simpsons retires Duffman’s character after 30 years
An iconic character from The Simpsons is being “retired” after 30 years on screen.
The beloved TV show is seemingly saying goodbye to the one and only Duffman, the mascot and chief spokesperson for Duff Beer, in the January 4 episode titled Seperance.
Known for his ”Oh, yeah!” catch phrase, the character announced in the episode that he would be hanging up his sunglasses, cape, and belt made up of Duff beer cans.

“The Duff Corporation has, uh, retired that character forever,” the character shared in the episode, appearing in the Simpsons’ house.
“All the old forms of advertising are now passé. Corporate spokesmen, print ads, TV spots – today’s kids can’t even sing the jingles.”
He tried to offer a job at a corporation called EOD before eventually leaving the company himself, appearing in his civilian outfit and going by his real name, Barry Duffman.

However, some are in doubt this will be the last we see of Duffman, since the episode is a spoof of the Apple TV series Severance.
The character was voiced by Hank Azaria, who also provided the voices for other iconic characters on the show, such as Moe Szyslak, Chief Wiggum, Superintendent Chalmers, Comic Book Guy, Snake Jailbird, Professor Frink, Kirk Van Houten, Duffman, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Lou, and Carl Carlson.

Duffman first appeared on screen in the season nine premiere of the show, in an episode titled The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson, which aired on September 21, 1997.

Azaria previously shared that of all the characters he voices, he dreads doing Duffman’s voice the most.
“There are certain voices I save, like Duffman will blow me out in a second,” he said on Conan in May 2020.
“I have to save Duffman for the end and I actually dread it. Like, ‘Oh no, I got a lot of Duffman to do today.'”
“It actually does hurt, but I am not complaining,” said the actor.
