Spotify Wrapped 2025 reveals Australia’s top artist, album and the decade-old song we still can’t get enough of
The biggest day in global music is upon us – Spotify Wrapped 2025 is officially here!
From Bad Bunny to Taylor Swift the stats for Australia’s listening habits are in, with some surprising – and not-so-surprising – names in the mix this year.
But one enduring Aussie classic has made a surprising comeback, proving to be just as well-loved by Australians as it was when first released 12 years ago.
Riptide by Vance Joy has solidified itself in the Aussie zeitgeist, coming in at number one in the ‘Top Song by a Local Artist’ category.
The indie folk smash was initially released in 2013, immediately receiving widespread praise for its lyrics, production and vocals – even drawing comparisons to Paul Kelly and Jeff Buckley at the time.
The tune, described as a “coming of age love story,” subsequently nabbed the coveted number-one spot in Triple J’s Hottest 100 that same year.
Vance Joy went on enjoy great success following the release, achieving global acclaim for his albums Dream Your Life Away and In Your own time.

More recently, he appeared alongside pop star Dua Lipa during the Melbourne leg of her Radical Optimism tour, with the pair performing a rendition of Riptide to adoring Aussie fans.
Other top Aussie brass to grace Wrapped’s stats included Crowded House’s Don’t Dream it’s Over at number two in the Top Aussie Song category, while the Wiggles took the crown of most-loved Australian artist.
Sia, Tame Impala, Royel Otis, Spacey Jane and Dom Dolla also notably made their debut appearances on the Top Australian Artist list.
Perhaps less surprisingly, Spotify announced global pop superstar Taylor Swift has retained the top spot as Australia’s overall most-streamed artist for 2025, continuing her unbeaten three-year run.
And Aussies proved themselves to be K-Pop fanatics this year, with KPop Demon Hunters‘ self-titled album ranking as Australia’s top album, followed by Alex Warren’s You’ll Be Alright, Kid and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.
In addition to music, Australia’s top picks for audiobooks has also been released by the streaming platform, with the fantasy genre well and truly dominating the charts Down Under.
Rebecca Yarros’ hit fantasy romance Fourth Wing and sequel novel Iron Flame took first and second place respectively, followed closely by Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses at number three.

The Fourth Wing series’ popularity with Aussie listeners comes as no surprise, following the announcement this year that a television adaptation was in the works.
Spotify has introduced a range of new features to 2025’s Wrapped, most notably implementing a “Listening Age” category, which compares your musical tastes to others in your age group, looking at the release years of the tracks you listen to most.
