Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes make their first couple appearance in 13 years
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have made an ultra-rare appearance together in public, stepping out on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon more than a decade after their last joint outing.
The notoriously private couple appeared together during a taping of the late-night show, when Gosling surprised Mendes with a birthday tribute.
The actor, who was appearing on the show to promote his upcoming film Project Hail Mary, had a heartwarming plan up his sleeve.

Host Jimmy Fallon brought Mendes on stage in front of a crowd largely made up of teachers, after Gosling revealed that his partner has a specific admiration for them.
The actress was waiting backstage, entirely unaware of the audience that awaited her.
The Barbie star organised a high school marching band to enter the studio carrying a large flag reading “Happy Birthday Eva”, while the audience sang to the star as she stood beside him.

Stunned, Mendes asked whether her segment would be “cut, right?” To which Fallon replied: “No! It’s your birthday.”
The actress thanked the audience of teachers in an impromptu speech.
“We owe so much to you guys,” she told them. “And you’re so underpaid.”
Gosling had explained that Mendes “loves teachers”, even keeping a hall monitor sash displayed at their home.
The pair first met while filming the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011 and have been together ever since.
Despite being two of Hollywood’s most recognisable stars, they have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight.

“I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids,” Mendes wrote on social media in 2020, explaining why she avoids sharing images of their personal life.
While they may not have stepped out together in over a decade, the couple regularly remind their fans of their enduring love.
When Gosling performed the song I’m Just Ken from Barbie at the 2024 Oscars, Mendes revealed she was watching proudly, even though she was not seated in the audience.
The couple last appeared together at the South by Southwest film festival in Texas in 2015.
