Michelle Trachtenberg cause of death officially confirmed as b


Almost two months after her passing, Michelle Trachtenberg‘s cause of death has been revealed.

The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed that the Gossip Girl star’s sudden death was a result of complications of diabetes mellitus. 

The manner of the 39-year-old’s death was ruled as natural.

The former child star was found dead in a New York City apartment on February 26.

At the time it was reported that her mother was the one who found her body, and made the call to 911. 

After officers arrived, they found a woman, identified as Trachtenberg, unconscious and unresponsive.

It was reported that the family originally declined to have an autopsy done on Trachtenberg’s body and because the death was not deemed suspicious by law enforcement, the medical examiner’s office honoured the request at that time.

At the time of the actress’ death it was revealed that she had been going through some medical issues, including recently receiving a liver transplant. 

A source told People that the former child star had been “really really down emotionally” and told friends she had been struggling over the past year. 

Shortly after her death, a NYPD source told CNN that Trachtenberg reportedly had a recent medical issue and that her death appeared to be related to natural causes.

“The family requests privacy for their loss,” a representative for Trachtenberg told CNN in a statement.

“There are no further details at this time,” the statement concluded.

While it was not deemed suspicious, an investigation was still happening into her death.

Trachtenberg rose to fame as a precocious child star, making her television debut at just three years old. 

She went on to have memorable roles on several series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, on which she played one of the most edgy roles of her career as a villainous foe named Georgina Sparks.

Co-stars and friends from the entertainment industry mourned the loss of Trachtenberg, sharing emotional tributes for her in the days after her sudden death.
