Weather Alert – 2025: Low Pressure Brewing in Bay of Bengal

Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure area formed over northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coast of Odisha on Tuesday. The system may trigger heavy rain in parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh (Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle and Kakinada districts) for the next two days. During this period, south coastal Andhra Pradesh will also experience severe weather events like thunderstorms.

The India Meteorological Department said the system is likely to move slowly northwards and become more marked during the next two days prompting the Odisha government to put the collectors of all nearby districts on alert.

The conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea and parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

The monsoon is expected to move into parts of west central India, north Bay of Bengal, parts of northeastern states and West Bengal in the next two to three days.
