Library Revival Forum Poster Unveiled In Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The poster for the Andhra Pradesh Grandhalaya Punarvikasa Udyama Vedika was unveiled at the Gandhi statue opposite GVMC by Uppala Appalaraju, state secretary of the Abhyudaya Rachayitala Sangham (Arasam), along with short story writer Dvibhashyam Rajeswara Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, Basu Pothana, Visakhapatnam district convener of the forum, said the gathering served as a preparatory event ahead of the state-level meeting to be led by Valluri Siva Prasad on April 27 in Vijayawada.
Uppala Appalaraju raised concerns over the mismanagement of library funds, pointing out that library cess collections were not being properly utilised. He noted that even the largest library in Visakhapatnam continues to function from a small flat despite the availability of land.
Dvibhashyam Rajeswara Rao stressed the need to instil reading habits among the youth, while other speakers urged the government to intervene and improve library infrastructure.
Several literary and cultural figures attended the event, highlighting the pressing need to revive the library movement in Andhra Pradesh.
