Illicit Affair Suspected Motive in Tribal Youth’s Murder

Hyderabad: Police are investigating the murder of Banoth Kommalu, a tribal youth, with an illicit affair believed to be the primary motive. Kommalu reportedly had a relationship with a close relative, persisting despite warnings and fines imposed by community elders. The woman’s husband is suspected of orchestrating the murder.

Kommalu was lured to a field by the woman via a phone call, where he was fatally attacked. The victim’s body exhibited over 10 knife wounds, suggesting the involvement of multiple assailants.

Sub-Inspector Goverdhan confirmed that a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Kommalu’s wife. The complaint names nine individuals, in addition to the wife and her husband, as accused. Police are currently interrogating the couple and five others.

Investigators are analysing call data to gather further evidence. The families of the accused and the victim reside in the same colony. Police have maintained a presence in the village since Sunday and will continue to do so for an additional two days, according to the Sub-Inspector.
