Hyderabad: A 23-year-old Guntur student in the United States died on April 9 while undergoing treatment after a major car accident in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Navya Nelakuditi, a student pursuing her Master’s in the United States, was returning from an internship interview in Michigan when the car she was travelling in suffered a major accident, leaving her severely injured.
Navya’s aunt Sirisha Nelakuditi, in a GoFundMe post, said that she was admitted in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, and despite three major surgeries, she died on April 9.
“The daughter of humble farmers in India, Navya moved to the US last year for her Master’s degree. Her parents invested everything they had into her education, and she worked tirelessly to build a career that would support them back home”, the GoFundMe post read.
The family is raising funds for the funeral and repatriation costs, and have raised more than $37,000.
