Developing Transport System for New India: Bandi
Karimnagar: The Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday said that the leaders of BRS, who used to write letters to Centre and wash their hands off responsibility to betray the people, are now trying to take the credit of enormous development being taken up in the state by the Central government.
Bandi Sanjay, along with transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MLCs Malka Komuraiah and Chinnamile Anji Reddy and senior railway officials, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the remodeled Karimnagar railway station which was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video conference in Karimnagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bandi Sanjay said that under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), 1,350 railway stations have been upgraded at a cost of Rs.25,000 crores across the country and as part of this, as many as 103 railway stations redeveloped at cost of Rs.2,000 had been virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on Thursday.
He assured that Jammikunta Railway Station would soon be included under the ABSS scheme. The detailed project report (DPR) for the new railway line from Karimnagar to Hasanparthy covering 62 km has already been prepared after conducting a survey and the Central government will take a decision soon to take up the project at a cost of Rs.1,480 crores, he added.
Sanjay mentioned that he and Ponnam Prabhakar had written a letter requesting a daily train service from Karimnagar to Tirupati. However, due to some technical issues, it was not becoming possible, but efforts are underway to get at least bi-weekly service. By the end of next month, one line of the Uppal RoB will be completed and opened to the public, he stated, adding, under the BRS dispensation, the development was limited to just writing letters. But, today, people are proud to take selfies at the newly developed railway stations.
The Karimnagar Railway Station redeveloped at Rs.27 crores features lifts, escalators, foot overbridges, AC and non-AC waiting halls, food courts, restaurants, restrooms, ticket counters, solar power plant and well sheltered platforms.
“In any country, the economy grows only when rail, road and airways sectors improve. After developing all these sectors only, the USA became a superpower nation. Realising this, PM Modi has focused especially on these three areas.
Under Modi’s tenure, the railway projects in Telangana have received top priority. In the last 11 years, over 20 projects covering 2,298 km have been undertaken in the state. Railway works worth Rs.42,119 crores are currently in progress across the state. In current financial year alone, `5,337 crores have been allocated for the Telangana railway project in the Union Budget, he mentioned.
