We all look a little different as we age, and Hollywood stars are no different, no matter how much they try to slow the effects of ageing.
But now fans of early 2000s heartthrob Chad Michael Murray are doing a double take after coming across a photo of him before he became famous.
Murray, now 44, started his career as a model working for big brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci before breaking into acting and eventually finding fame for his role as Lucas Scott in the TV series One Tree Hill.

His nose has now caught the attention of social media followers and Reddit users.
“I was today years old when I found out that Chad Michael Murray had a nose job,” wrote teddivan96 in the 2000s Nostalgia thread earlier this week, along with a photo of the star before he was famous.
“He got jumped at Burger King and his nose was broken in the process. He had to get his nose surgically reset.

“Imagine getting jumped and you come out looking better.”
According to Page Six, the photo was taken from Murray’s high school yearbook.
Murray himself spoke about his nose during a 2025 interview with Newsweek. He said he was uncomfortable with his appearance in the early days of his stardom.
“I [didn’t] like my nose because it’s not my nose,” he said.
“I got jumped in a Burger King and my nose surgery was a couple posts, pop it back into place, hold two tennis balls at Cedar Sinai, and there you go.”

While the nose he ended up with was not his original nose, it clearly didn’t hold him back too much.
After getting his start in bit parts and recurring roles in Gilmore Girls and Dawson’s Creek, he won the role of Lucas Scott in One Tree Hill, which premiered in 2003 and ran for nine seasons.
He reached heart-throb status thanks to roles in the 2003 film Freaky Friday, opposite Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, and the 2004 romantic A Cinderella Story opposite Hilary Duff.
He has worked solildy for the past two decades.
Today, he stars in the TV series Sullivan’s Landing, and recently reprised his role of Jake in the 2025 film Freakier Friday.

Murray is not the first star whose changed appearance caused headlines.
Jennifer Grey was riding a career high thanks to her starring role in the 1987 hit movie Dirty Dancing when she made a decision that changed her life and bowed to pressure from her parents and got a nose job.
She said the move left her ‘invisible’ overnight.
“In the world’s eyes, I was no longer me,” she told People in 2022, adding Michael Douglas failed to recognise her at her first Hollywood event post-surgery.
“That was the first time I had gone out in public. And it became the thing, the idea of being completely invisible, from one day to the next.”
Lori Loughlin has also become the talk of Hollywood recently after her makeup artist posted a photo of her on Instagram, and left many fans saying she no longer looked like herself.
