Brooklyn Beckham family feud: Ex-girfriend Afton McKeith speaks out after statement on David Beckham and Victoria Beckham

Brooklyn Beckham’s ex-girlfriend has come out in support of her former beau amid his highly publicised family feud.

Afton McKeith, who is the daughter of Scottish television personality Gillian McKeith, told The Sun she believes Brooklyn is telling the truth and that his proclamation came after years of struggling to grow up in the spotlight.

“He suffered from anxiety,” the 25-year-old said, “Brooklyn felt as though the world was constantly waiting for him to muck up.

“I now feel his parents could have protected him more and considered the impact of the public Brand Beckham.”

The pair grew up together in upmarket Kensington, West London, dating in 2017.

At the time, people would often recognise the teen, taking pictures of him, which led him to always have security with him, said McKeith.

“He didn’t get angry. He didn’t have that personality. But he was frantic about it, anxious,” she said.

She also added that the frequent absences of his parents, David and Victoria, from home due to being away on business also led to his isolation.

McKeith also rubbished rumours that it was Nicola Peltz behind Brooklyn’s lengthy statement earlier this week.

“He is intelligent – and he’s had enough,” she said.

McKeith is not the first of Brooklyn’s exes to speak on the topic, with singer Tallia Storm coming out in support of him right after he released his shattering statement.

“I am 100 per cent Team Brooklyn,” Storm, who dated Brooklyn around 2014 when they were both teenagers, told The Mirror, claiming, “Victoria [Beckham] didn’t like me”.

She specifically told the publication about two occasions where she claims Victoria interfered with their relationship.

On one occasion, Storm claims Victoria “[called] the press” to one of her gigs that Brooklyn had attended.

On another, she was set to attend the Global Gift Gala, hosted by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, with Brooklyn but claims Victoria wouldn’t let her eldest child attend.

“He messaged me on the night itself, when I was already inside, saying “my mum won’t let me come, I’m sorry. And that was that. Obviously Victoria didn’t like me or whatever”.

Referring to Brooklyn’s statement, Storm praised him for standing up for himself.

“I think he’s just had enough. I am 100 per cent Team Brooklyn. I think what that boy has gone through over all these years, in that Beckham ‘web’, as I call it, is a lot,” she told The Mirror.

“It’s a lot on any person. So, good on him, saying, ‘enough is enough’. This is him taking back his power.”
