Brooklyn Beckham family feud: As the Beckham family feud rages on, here’s everything Victoria and David have said about parenthood

The Beckham family feud is playing out right before our very eyes.

Just weeks ago, David Beckham shared a sweet tribute to his family and all his children, including Brooklyn, by writing underneath a family snap: “You are my Life. I Love you all, Love Daddy x On to 2026.”

But the public declaration of love – and olive branch – didn’t stop David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, 26, from releasing a sensational public statement confirming he is estranged from his famous parents and has zero desire to “reconcile” with them.

It’s unclear exactly how Spice Girl Victoria, 51, and footballing icon David, 50, are taking the statement privately; but the pair have maintained a united front with their family and three other kids; Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper Beckham, 14.

Just a week ago, David touched on how he approaches parenting in a chat with CNBC and the use of social media.

”I have always spoke about social media and the power of social media… for the good and for the bad,” he said.

“They make mistakes, [but] children are allowed to make mistakes, that’s how they learn, that is what I try to teach my kids, you sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

The footballer took to his Instagram story to post a throwback photo of himself with his son after his 2025 New Years post stirred up more chatter about the family fued. While Brooklyn was absent from his father's photodump of the year, David later shared a photo of the two of them together on his story, writing "I love you all so much."

Over the years, the pair have gushed about their family life online with the glimpses they have shared with the world on social media, and also praised their family in a number of candid interviews, which makes Brooklyn’s statement all the more surprising.

Read on to see what the Beckhams have said about parenting in the past as their family feud with Brooklyn rages on.

The importance of ‘humility’ despite their upbringing

In 2015, Spice Girl Victoria penned an incredibly powerful open letter to her family and children and on the topic of motherhood to TIME.

“Being a mother is simply the greatest achievement of my life,” she said in the lengthy piece.

“The emotional connection I feel towards my children brings boundless elation and joy as well as the inevitable worry and concern.”

She said the kids “hide notes in my suitcase” when she travels for work and spoke about the importance of “humilty” despite their upbringing in one of the most famous family’s in the world.

“Being in a position where they live such a privileged life, it is important that our children understand humility, that they appreciate how their parents have worked very hard to create this life for the family and that they, too, have a responsibility to work hard, be respectful and never, ever take anything for granted,” she said.

’Privilege’ doesn’t mean a free ride

The Beckham children, although growing up with ”privilege,” grew up with “strict” parents in David and Victoria.

“We have always led by example, in terms of the way we treat our children, with the way we look after our children, the way we love our children,” he once told The Telegraph.

“But we are very strict parents. We want to bring them up as closely as possible to how we were brought, because you have to give them manners, you have to give them boundaries and our children definitely have that.”

Reflecting on starting a family together at a young age

When the pair welcomed eldest son Brooklyn in 1999, David was in his early 20s.

Brooklyn was even at the pair’s lavish wedding held that same year, as ringbearer, at just four months old.

“Obviously, Victoria and I had Brooklyn at a very young age,” David said in a chat with The Father Hood.

“But I always wanted that, because I wanted my kids to live through my career with me – through the highs and obviously a couple of lows along the way. I always wanted that.”

He added about his legacy when it comes to fatherhood that he wants to be remembered in that role “just as a hard-working father that loved his kids and would do anything for them”.

‘The next chapter’ for David and Victoria

In August last year, Nicole Kidman did a fun chat with Victoria Beckham for Vogue and Victoria reflected on her family and how she and David raised their kids.

“We woke up this morning and said, ‘We’re so proud of the kids, they’re such great, kind, sweet, humble, funny, hardworking young adults.’ Getting that balance is very difficult,” she reflected during the chat.

Speaking about the “juggle” while the kids were growing up, she added: “You’re trying to be the best wife, the best mum, the best professional.”

But she said her and David are at the next stage of their lives now when it comes to parenting, which a lot of parents can no doubt relate to.

”But then the kids get older and they flee the nest and have their own passions. Now myself and David are in the next chapter.”

Last year, David penned a heartfelt birthday tribute to his wife on Instagram and remarked: “Your biggest success are your children. You guide them, love them and teach them… they love you beyond words, we all love you so much.”
