Brian Cox critises Margot Robbie’s casting in Wuthering Heights in new interview
Margot Robbie was the latest target of Brian Cox‘s no-holds-barred views on Hollywood.
In an interview with The Times, the actor – who has unleashed on a number of Hollywood heavyweights over the years, including Quentin Tarantino and Edward Norton – turned his attention to the Aussie star.
Cox questioned Robbie’s casting as Cathy in the latest adaptation of Wuthering Heights the 1939 version is one of his favourite movies.

“Keith Cliff! It’s me, Cathy!'” Cox mocked Robbie in a faux-Aussie accent. “‘How ya doing, Keith? Awright?’ ‘Yeah, I’m awright!'”
Following the scathing impersonation, Cox went on to add that “Margot Robbie is far too beautiful for that role.”
“I mean, I think there should be something more of the Gypsy about her but it’s wrong of me to judge,” he added. “It may be a brilliant film.”

Cox also alluded to his distaste for method acting, delving into his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong’s decision to implement the technique while filming.
“I don’t want to go on about Jeremy, because I’ve got into a lot of problems and he’s begged me to stop talking about him. He’s a good actor, Jeremy,” he said in the interview.
Strong, who played Cox’s on-screen son in the hit series, approached the role in a way that Cox described as “b——-.”

“He’s a good actor, Jeremy. He’s a wonderful actor. It’s just all the b—— that goes with it. You watch children – they don’t say, ‘What’s my motivation?’ They just do it!”
It’s not the first time the outspoken actor has shared his candid thoughts on fellow stars.

Fight Club star Edward Norton was once described as a “pain in the arse,” Kevin Spacey a “stupid, stupid man,” Quentin Tarantino “meretricious,” Michael Caton-Jones “a complete arsehole” and David Hare a “see you next Tuesday.”
The Scot labelled Johnny Depp as “overrated,” expressing relief at having turned down the role of Elizabeth Swan’s father in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Also taking aim at Hollywood great Ian McKellen, Cox once claimed his former X-Men co-star’s acting was “not to his taste.”

He’s since revealed that while his blunt opinions on fellow A-listers had not landed him in hot water yet, his wife, Nicole Ansari-Cox, had attempted to warn him against being too upfront about his thoughts.
“My wife keeps saying, ‘Brian, be careful. Brian, be careful.’
Cox added, “I think, ‘F–k it, I don’t want to be careful anymore! I’ll be 80 this year. F–k it! I’m gonna say what I want to say.'”
