Angelina Jolie reportedly eyeing permanent move from US when youngest children turn 18

Angelina Jolie is reportedly eyeing a permanent move away from the US.

According to reports coming out of the US, the former wife of Brad Pitt, is counting down the days until the youngest of their six children turn 18 in July so she can finally leave the country.

Fox News is reporting the actress/director and humanitarian wants to leave Los Angeles once twins Vivienne and Knox turn 18 in July – which is when any custody arrangements with Pitt should end.

The outlet backed its claim by pointing to multiple comments both Jolie and sources close to her have made which mentioned her desire to leave the US.

Page Six reported in August 2025 that Jolie was preparing her historic LA home for sale.

People then quoted a source who said Jolie “never wanted to live in LA full-time” but “didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad”.

The source said Jolie “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year”.

”She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles,” People reported.

Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that she lived in LA “because I have to be here”.

“I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she told the outlet.

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace safety.

“I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be… that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.

“I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members, wherever they may be in the world.”

Jolie told British Vogue in 2021 she bought the former estate of celebrated filmmaker Cecil B DeMille so the children were near their dad.

“I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away,” she said.

Since then, the former couple has continued to be at odds, while almost all of Pitt’s children have distanced themselves from their father.

The couple’s eldest biological daughter Shiloh filed a petition with an LA court to drop Pitt from her name when she turned 18 in May 2024.

The name change was officially approved later that year.

Also in May 2024, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt dropped the ‘Pitt’ from her name in a playbill for a theatre production of The Outsiders, which she worked on alongside her mother.

In 2023, a video emerged of Zahara’s induction into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College where she identified herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie”.

It followed a social media post in 2020, which resurfaced in 2023, in which son Pax referred to his dad as a “world-class a—hole” and a “despicable human being” in an Instagram post marking Father’s Day in the US.

Most recently, Jolie and Pitt have been at odds over the part-sale of the couple’s French winery and the scene of their 2014 wedding.

Late last year, a judge reportedly ruled in favour of Pitt, 62, who had asked Jolie to hand over private emails and text messages regarding the sale of her portion of Château Miravel, which is located in the south of France.

The former couple, who famously met and fell in love in 2004 on the set of their film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston, reportedly bought the vineyard jointly during their union.

Following their acrimonious split in 2016, which led to Jolie filing for divorce, they embarked on a drawn out legal battle over custody of their children and their assets.

They were declared legally single in 2019, before they finally divorced in 2024.

However, the vineyard, and in particular Jolie’s decision to sell her half to the Stoli Group in 2021, has proven to be a bone of contention for the former couple.

Pitt first launched legal action over the sale in February 2022.

He sought monetary damages and legal fees, and asked for the sale to be voided.

He later accused Jolie, 50, of trying to “inflict harm” on him by selling her share to a company owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.
