2026 Golden Globes: Glambot director defends Jennifer Lopez’s ‘rude’ red carpet snub

The mind behind awards season fixture the Glambot is setting the record straight, following backlash over a featured celebrity’s “rude” behaviour.

Cole Walliser has made a name for himself behind the lens over the last 10 years, documenting all the best red carpet looks since the motion-capture red carpet camera made its debut at the 2016 Emmy Awards.

And now he has stepped in to defend Jennifer Lopez’s apparent on-camera snub at the 2026 Golden Globes, after she appeared to reject his attempt at post-bot pleasantries.

In a new Instagram video shared on Jan. 18, the star videographer sought to shut down accusations from fans that the Lopez, 56, had been rude to him.

In the original video, Lopez was seen approaching the Glambot, which uses a high-speed camera to capture slow-motion celebrity content as they pause on their way down the red carpet.

The singer greeted Walliser without looking at him, posing impassively for the shot.

Walliser attempted to offer his compliments to the star after her Glambot was complete, but appeared to be snubbed as he approached her.

“Slayed it as usual,” he offered, as Lopez turned her back on him to continue down the carpet.

“Thank you so much, thanks guys,” he then addressed her accompanying team.

Fans were quick to condemn Lopez’s behaviour in the video’s comment section, scathingly labelling it as “cringe.”

“My favourite part was when she didn’t look at, speak to, or smile at you,” one commenter observed.

Another alluded to Lopez’ past behaviour on the red carpet (think, “Schiaparelli”), saying “this doesn’t help her reputation of being rude.”

Additional comments praised Walliser for his decorum and respect despite less-than-ideal circumstances.

”Such a Cole thing to do to be sweet no matter what,” one supplied.

But Walliser soon jumped to the On the Floor hitmaker’s defence, clarifying in a video that while fans’ feelings on the controversial moment were valid, “there was only one person outside of JLo who was in that conversation, and that person was me.”

He then proceeded to clear up a number of misconceptions that he’d been “wanting to address for a while.”

”The first thing to know about Glambot is that Glambots are completely elective.” Walliser clarified.

“Anybody that stops, [to participate] I already like you, because you’re taking the time to do my thing.”

He revealed that when it came to Lopez’s turn, the carpet had been closing, and she had stopped quickly before moving on.

“I didn’t take it personally. It didn’t feel rude in that moment.”

”It’s just unfortunate that the position was she was facing away from me. So I am talking to her, she is looking away, but she’s getting ready for the move,” Walliser explained.

He went on to express gratitude for fans’ support, but doubled down on the fact that he’d “never” felt as though he’d been treated rudely by any celebrities – Lopez included.
